The nature we protect

Prokletije is one of Europe's most valuable centres of biodiversity, home to hundreds of plant and animal species, many of which live nowhere else. Staying in a place like this is a privilege, and a responsibility.

That is why we designed Balić Eko Village to leave the smallest possible footprint: small timber cabins instead of large buildings, the surrounding forest left intact, and a pace of stay that works with nature rather than against it.

  • Cabins of natural materials, settled into the existing terrain
  • Discreet night lighting, so we do not disturb the wildlife
  • Local, seasonal food from hosts in Plav and Gusinje
  • Sorting waste and keeping single-use plastic to a minimum

Flavours of the Plav and Gusinje region

Traditional cuisine blends Oriental, Balkan and mountain influences. Homemade, seasonal and full of character, just like the region itself.

  • Japraci, layered pies and homemade soups
  • Local cheese, kajmak and cured meats
  • Blueberries and their products, the hallmark of the region
